APR Motorsport Looks Forward to the Long Straightaways of Road America

APR Motorsport Press Release

June 20, 2012 (Opelika, Ala.) – Road America is one of the most famous circuits in North America, and for good reason. At over 4 miles in length, it features several long straightaways linked by extremely fast and challenging corners. Its ‘Kink’ is flat out in most cars and scary in all of them – but it’s a playground that the drivers of APR Motorsport are really looking forward to.

After a challenging Mid-Ohio weekend, where the team’s no. 51 APR Audi R8 Grand-Am was caught a lap down when a yellow flag came out, drivers Dr. Jim Norman and Dion von Moltke are looking to repeat their form from Belle Isle, where the car qualified 4th and led it’s first laps in Grand-Am.

“Racing at Road America brings me a lot of great racing memories,” said von Moltke. “I drove here often in the Skip Barber Racing School series where I learned the fundamentals of driving race cars. I am looking forward to returning back to a track with so much history in our APR Audi R8 with support from Parathyroid.com, South African Airways, and PR Newswire. Top speed is one of the key areas to a quick lap around Road America so I am hoping our Audi V10 engine can show it’s might at Road America!”

Also returning will be the no. 41 APR Audi S4, driven by Hector Guerrero and Alex Popow. The duo was scheduled to make their debut at Mid-Ohio before the car was withdrawn after a crash in practice when Guerrero hit oil entering the Keyhole.

Fans of APR Motorsport can speak with the team throughout both races on the APR Motorsport Live Blog, at www.goapr.com. The CTSCC race will be held on Friday, June 22 at 6:15 PM ET, with Saturday’s Rolex Series race starting at 12:00 pm ET.

The Rolex 250 Driven by VisitFlorida.com will be shown live on SPEED Channel on Saturday, June 23 at 12:00 PM ET. The CTSCC race from Road America will be shown on Saturday, July 8, at 12:00 PM ET on SPEED Channel.
